Réfection cloison centrale Edel IV

Bonjour tout le monde !

Avec un ami, nous avons récupéré pour une bouchée de pain un Edel IV de 1976 il y a quelques mois. Problème étant que ce brave p’tit bonhomme a été laissé à l’abandon pendant plusieurs années ( au moins 5 ans à priori…). Je vous fait pas de dessin, même si la base est saine, il y a du boulot ! Nous avons commencé à refaire l’intérieur, notamment les boiseries, dont certaines ont été sévèrement touchées par l’eau de pluie qui s’est invité par la porte grande ouverte. Ce qui m’inquiète pas mal, c’est que le coin inférieur gauche de la cloison centrale qui sépare le bateau en deux est complétement mort, j’entends par là que le bois reste dans les mains au moindre contact, détruit par l’eau, sur une zone d’environ 50cm3… Au moment de la démonter, je me rappel avoir lu quelque part que cette cloison est « portante », garantit la rigidité de la coque. Est-ce vrai ? La démonter entièrement risquerait-il de nuire à l’intégrité structurelle du bateau ?

bonsoir j’ ai entierement rénévé un edel 4 ou il y avait se probleme de cloison pourie,cette cloison est structurellle et soutient le mat je l’ai refaite en y apportant quelques modifications pour la renforcer mon n² de tel pour plus de rnseignements 0608066524

Ne me dit pas que tu as acheté cet Edel4 chez Chanaz Marine cet été….

concernant la cloison, effectivement la partie basse de la cloison sert a répartir sur le fond de la coque la pression du mat.
Si le bois est mort il faut impérativement la remplacer avant de mater le bateau.
N’hésite pas a contacter Tom39 qui est super sympa, et à refait son edel4 mieux qu’a l’origine.

Je suis mois aussi dans la réfection d’un edel IV et le remplacement de cette cloison est également à l’ordre du jour.
Je ne manquerai pas de documenter tout ça.

Heureusement, un remâtage n’est pas d’actualité pour le moment, d’une part car le pont et les gréements nécessite des révisions au minimum, ( pas trop pratique à faire quand tout est en place…) et surtout, le bateau est amarré sur le Rhône canalisé et je doit passer sous plusieurs ponts avant d’atteindre le lac du Bourget, inutile donc de songer à ça pour le moment. Encore moins avant que la cloison soit refaite visiblement !

J’étais pas passé le voir, mais j’avais eu plein de photos de la part de chanaz marine, et il était convenu que je venais le samedi matin à 11H pour acheter et emmener cet Edel IV.
J’étais en train d’atteler la remorque (je suis de lyon) le samedi matin, quand ils m’ont appelé pour me dire que l’edel venais d’être vendu…ARRRRGGHHHH!!

Du coup 2 semaines plus tard j’ai récupéré un edelIV gratos à hyères

Concernant ton edel, je me rappel sur les photos que le bois qui est dans la liaison coque pont, au niveau des fixations de haubans avait complètement disparu, on voyait les pas de vis des cavaliers inox a l’intérieur de la cabine.
Il te faudra remédier à ca avant de naviguer sous voile.

Mets des photos de tes travaux sur le forum, ou fait un petit article.

Effectivement on nous avait prévenu que quelqu’un devais passer le prendre avec une remorque le samedi, c’était donc toi ! ( Pardon…) :blush: On l’a acheté le vendredi matin au final. Ça me rendait malade de le voir couché un peu à l’arrache sur ses pneu… Pauvre bête… :( Cool si tu as quand même pu en récupérer un !

Yes, le contre liston à l’intérieur est complétement mort, j’ai commencé à faire sauter les zones les plus humides histoire de limité les dégâts, mais un remplacement total est impératif. De toute façon niveau boiserie, tout ce qui est à l’extérieur est à changer, ( liston, main courante ect…) et à l’intérieur, un bon coup de ponceuse et quelques couches de vernis histoire de redonner un coup de neuf à l’ensemble, seront suffisants pour une bonne majorité des boiseries, mise à part quelques endroits -> partie inférieur gauche de la cloison centrale, ainsi que le pas de porte bouffé par l’eau qui stagnait dans le fond, qui nécessitent des réparations plus profondes.

Je ne manquerai pas de mettre les photos de l’avancement des travaux ! Pour l’instant rien « d’exceptionnel », surtout du nettoyage, du tri, on a aussi refait les joints du hublot avant ainsi que du roof, et là, j’attaque le décapage de la peinture qui part en miette un peu de partout. Doucement, mais sûrement…

Please take photos because on mine Edel 4 also the pillar that supports the mast is starting to rot on it’s bottom part. I was reluctant to change it because the mast is up and I was not in a port where I could take it down. I will do that in the spring, when I pull the boat out for antifouling. It would be great to get some measurments before that.
I will take some pictures tomorrow to show what’s going on with my pillar.
Also, as I’m planing to renew my e4 inside this winter and spring it would be great if someone else was doing it at the same time.

Hi Jazmi ! No problem I’ve took some picture of my pillar, water have done a lot of damage on it… :/ The first one, is on the ground, and the second one, is on the left side, in the middle of the boat. When we have buy it, we had take off almost 50 litres of water from inside…

Do you know what,is behind that board? I’m afraid it’s all wet or at least damp behind that wood and I’m wondering how to dry it up since my boat is leaking on few places (left window, front window a bit, and quie a lot in the front cabin to the right but I don’t know where) so there is always a lot of water after rain on the lowest part of the boat.
If there is foam as someone said, I think I’m going to remove rotten wood and then close close it up to half with foam to prevent water from going forward in the hole and leave it open for a summer to dry completely.

This images shows damage on the front seat, under that shorter piece of « pillar » that stands on it. That makes me quite nervous because I think that means that the rotten wood (the bigger pillar) is not holding weight of the mast anymore.

I’m wondering if it would be sufficient to cut the rotten part of the wood and just replace it with new piece of wood and tha glue it all together. I would use some sort of lifting mechanism to lift the roof couple of cm to insert the new part of the wood and also to straighten and repair the plastic part that is broken on the last picture.

On my free edel 4 the lower part of the wood bulkead is also rotten.
I remove everything, so i can confirm you, behind the lower part there is foam, under the floor of the front cabin.

You’re right about the damange on the seat, the lower part of your wooden mast post, that is supposed to spread the compression of your mast on the hull is totaly rotten. So the pressure of the mast is taken by the handrail, and put a heavy load on the seat, that is not design for that purpose.

You’re repair project is good. You can lower the mast, put an hydraulic jack and a piece of wood to raise the roof. Remove the rotten part, dry everything, and glue a new piece of wood at the lower part of the bulkhead.
To avoid having water staying out of sight, behind the bulkhead, you can make a hole at the lowest part of the bulkhead, fill the hole with epoxy putty, and drill a smaller hole in the epoxy putty.
And of course you can protect with epoxy the piece of wood that you’re gonna glue.
